Mike teaches in the doctoral program at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology
Michael Patterson, Ed.D. is a co-author of the highly acclaimed book, Have a Nice Conflict: How to Find Success & Satisfaction in the Most Unlikely Places (Jossey-Bass, 2012). Mike began his career as an officer in the U.S. Army and then spent 20 years in a variety of executive-level sales, marketing, and training roles in the pharmaceutical industry culminating in his leadership of two comprehensive employee development programs.
As a consultant and master facilitator, Mike has worked with a wide variety of global organizations, and is a frequent conference and keynote speaker. In addition to his work with organizational clients, Mike teaches in the doctoral program at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology and the Master of Organizational Psychology program at Vanguard University.
Mike earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, a Master of Public Administration degree from Troy State University, a Master of Arts degree from Biola University, and a doctorate in education from Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology.
Mike’s dissertation, An Examination of Supervisory Support as a Factor Affecting Training Transfer in a Sales Organization, was recognized as one of the winners of the International Society for Performance Improvement’s Annual Distinguished Dissertation Award in 2011. Mike continues to focus on issues of learning transfer and adult learning theory in his academic work and teaching.
Mike and his wife live in Temecula, CA, where they love to host family celebrations for their five adult children and their families.
